Environments shaped with reverence for detail, craftsmanship, and individuality.
About us
Charlie Hellstern is a Seattle-based design studio dedicated to creating interiors that are at once elegant and effortless, modern yet deeply human. We believe in a refined approach—one where natural materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and meaningful design choices shape spaces that feel timeless and personal.
Charlie Hellstern
Owner & Creative Director
Charlie is the founder and principal of her Seattle-based interior design studio, known for interiors that are refined, grounded, and deeply personal. With more than twenty-five years of experience, she brings calm clarity to her work—balancing comfort and elegance with a deep sensitivity to materials and place.
Before founding her studio in 2017, Charlie spent thirteen years building the interior design practice at the noted Seattle firm Olson Kundig, where she co-directed its interiors program and played a central role in mentoring both interior designers and architects. Her process is rooted in close, longstanding partnerships with architects, builders, and craftspeople—resulting in layered, intentional spaces that reflect each client’s values and way of life.
Charlie favors a restrained palette, rich texture, and unexpected material combinations to create warmth, depth, and timelessness. Her residential and commercial interiors often include custom furnishings, vintage pieces, and commissioned art, developed in collaboration with a trusted network of local and international makers. A Seattle native, her work has been published and recognized for its quiet elegance and strong sense of place.
