Hale Hapuna

Kauai, hawaii

In collaboration with architect Les Eerkes, this multigenerational retreat on Kauaʻi’s South Shore was designed to deepen connection—between family, land, and sea. Charlie embraced the island’s elemental beauty through materials like lava stone in varied finishes, local limestone, sustainable wood, and water. The result is an atmosphere of relaxed, refined elegance rooted in place. At the heart of the home, sculptural light fixtures by Nancy Mintz—her first foray into functional art—evoke organic coral forms, casting a quiet glow. Outdoors, a sunken fire pit beside the spa encourages conversation and continuity between spaces. Every gesture of this thoughtfully crafted escape invites reflection, ease, and a renewed sense of togetherness in harmony with nature.
